Below are the first sets of rainbow words. These are "Sight words" meaning that students should read them automatically - without having to decode them or sound them out (especially since many do not follow regular phonics patterns.) Students should begin with the red words, working at their own pace. The BEST learning will take place when practice is made fun so below are lots of engaging ways to practice!
|
After the first track out we will begin 'Rainbow Word' testing each Friday morning. If a student can quickly and accurately read the 8 words in his/her color level he/she will move up to the next color level. If a student needs more practice, he/she simply stays on that level until it is mastered. Students are NOT expected to master an entire new list each week - we just want to make sure they're progressing each week. **Parents will receive a note in their child's folder with a progress update after each Friday's rainbow word test.**
